Whether you're travelling to Zante in the Greek Islands, also known
as Zakynthos, for a relaxing holiday, or seeking a holiday with a
difference in Zante, I am developing my 'Explore Zakynthos' Youtube
video channel will help you plan for the highlights of Zante island.
The Potamitis family own and manage the Skinari Windmills, as well
as several furnished traditional stone holiday apartments, a charming
cliff top cafe, a traditional Greek tavern, and the Potamitis Boat
trips.

is well worth the drive!

hustle and bustle of everyday life, and relax in Greek Island holiday
mood. The views from Skinari are absolutely breath-taking and everyone
who visits here leaves totally enchanted.
Don’t miss the sign for the Zante Windmills while you’re at Skinari
in the Far North of Zakynthos – the windmills provide an enchanting area
to explore. There are two old flour grinding windmills here that have
been converted into places to stay! You can wander round and enjoy the
views from the top of the cliff here and the sparkling seas below.
Close to the windmills and the Windmill Cafe, at the cliff edge, near
a cascade of stairs downwards, you’ll spot a sign promising ‘The most
amazing swim in your life’. Head on down! At the bottom, you can dive
into deep sapphire waters - the most amazing sea waters in Zakynthos.
Swim to the left for about fifty meters where you’ll spot a small narrow
entrance to a sea cave. Head on in if you’re feeling brave enough.
Inside this huge sea cave you will be amazed by the effect of light on
the water – turning the sea water translucent blue.
A little further down the road, past the turn off for the Windmills,
is the Skinari Lighthouse. A charming building, great for photos, this
active lighthouse watches over the crossing between Zante and Keffalonia.
The lighthouse at Skinari in Zakynthos is a great place to take ' all in
one" boat trips to both the Blue Caves and Shipwreck - at the best
price! You can take a combined trip from here to enjoy both the Blue
Caves and Shipwreck - both famous things to see in Zakynthos- or take
single trips - depending on your schedule.
Skinari provides a perfect retreat in Zakynthos to get away from the
hustle and bustle of everyday life, and relax in a true holiday mood.
The views from Skinari Windmills are absolutely breath-taking – everyone
who visits agree that time spent on holidays in Zaknthos at Skinari is a
really enchanting experience.
The natural and completely untouched surroundings of Skinari are not
only spectacular but are also important environmentally. There is a rare
plant found only in Skinari and no where else in the world! It is such
an unusual plant that it is studied closely by the Nature Department at
the University of Athens.
SKINARI WINDMILL ACCOMODATION
You can have the Zante holiday of a lifetime by staying at one of the
two charming Windmills in the beautifully unspoilt region of Skinari in
Zakynthos.
There are two idyllic windmills located close to the cliffs of
Skinari – both of which have been converted from flour grinding mills
into holiday accommodation for tourists staying in Zante. If you are
looking for a slightly unusual, and completely peaceful, summer holiday
then this could be the ideal Greek Island holiday accommodation for you.
The windmills at Skinari are definitely among the most unique
accommodation on the island of Zante. You can choose to book in just for
one night, to have a break from the resort holiday experience, or for an
extended stay in the Skinari region.
The Stone Windmill is the larger of the two, capable of sleeping up
to four people, and has been more recently renovated inside.
The White and Blue Windmill is somewhat smaller inside, sleeping a
maximum of two people. However, it has a real Greek Island feel and an
unmistakable charm.
Both of the windmills are two storeys, with the bedrooms upstairs and
kitchen, living and bathroom areas downstairs. They have fully equipped
kitchenettes and air-conditioning to keep you cool on the hot summer
nights.
Each of the Skinari Windmills has a traditional little balcony off
the bedrooms where you can enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the
Ionion Sea. The views from both of these traditional Greek windmills at
Skinari must be among the best in Zante, stretching over an immense
expanse of sea, with the neighbouring island of Kephalonia floating in
the distance.
SKINARI STUDIOS & APARTMENTS
The Potamitis family also accommodate guests in their four beautiful
stone studios. Each studio is suitable for up to four guests.
All of the studios are fully air-conditioned, with en suite showers
and pretty stone interiors. Each of the stone studios also has their own
spacious balcony with magnificent sea and landscape views.
If you need a little more space, the Stone Apartment, also built in
traditional Greek Island style, is suitable for four people with 60sqm
space.
The Stone Apartment has one bedroom with a double bed, and open plan
lounge area with sofa beds. There is a large kitchen area fully equipped
for cooking during your holiday.
The bathroom in the Stone Apartment has a bath tub as well as a
shower facility.
For a family holiday, or even for a couple looking for space and
comfort, the Stone Apartment at Skinari is ideal. You can enjoy the
amazing panoramic views and really get away from everything. This region
is perfect for anyone looking for total peace and quiet – you won’t get
much more tranquil than Skinari.
