Resorts in Zante: Agios Sostis in South West Zakynthos
Along the
South West Coast of Zante the resort of Agios Sostis is small
and charming retaining a real Greek feel. Agios Sostis is perfect for
those who want a quiet, relaxing Greek Island holiday with plenty of
activities and excursions available too.
From Agios Sostis you can take boat trips
to the Keri Caves, Marathonisi Island and in the perfect place for Turtle Spotting. You can
also reach the larger resort of Laganas from here just a few minutes
drive away.
Alykes is the last resort along the
east coast of Zante island, sitting
just 2 kilometres along the coastline from the neighbouring resort of
Alykanas.
Alykes caters well for tourists while maintaining a peaceful holiday
ambience. It is considerably quieter than some of the livelier resorts
more central in Zakynthos such as Tsilivi, Kalamaki and Laganas.
With a gorgeous white sand beach, beautiful scenery and a very
peaceful atmosphere, Alykes has grown to be a popular resort for those
seeking a relaxing Greek Island break.
Sharing a stretch of golden sandy beach with the neighbouring resort of
Alykes, Alykanas is a small resort, popular with families and couples
who are looking for a relaxing break in the sun.
Although catering well for the tourist market with various shops,
restaurants, tavernas and bars available, Alykanas has kept a
traditional feel and slower pace of life than some of the larger resorts
on the island.
Alykanas is slightly smaller than nearby Alykes and, with its
little fishing harbour, has a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
Water
sports and wind surfing are available on this stretch of coastline and
from the beach there are clear views of Kefalonia island, just north of
Zante.
The resort of Argassi has developed around the beach here, and is now
one of the most popular resorts on the island. The region of Argassi is
compact and comfortable, with a great selection of amenities and shops
all within easy reach of the beach.
In the evening Argassi is one of the livelier resorts with a
selection of restaurants, pubs, bars and even a few clubs. While Argassi
is much smaller than Laganas and without such a club vibe, there is
plenty to keep you entertained during your summer evenings.
The village of Gerakas is home to one of the best beaches in Zakynthos.
It is located on the southern tip of the Vasilikos area. The beach is
really spectacular framed with jagged cliffs and sweeping golden sand.
This region is not a typical tourist resort, rather a selection of
spacious accommodation options within a countryside region perfect for
those seeking total peace and tranquility.
Situated in the southwest of Zante is the tourist resort of Kalamaki.
Kalamaki is a large resort with a beautiful beach and a relaxed holiday
atmosphere.
The resort is centred around one large main road, with the
restaurants and bars located mainly down this one strip. Just a few
minutes away is the gorgeous sandy beach and the sparkling sea.
Kalamaki is a great place to stay if you want a relatively peaceful
holiday base with a few bars and restaurants to keep you entertained
during your time in Zakynthos.
The region of Kampi, in the West of Zakynthos, is a
peaceful and relatively untouched region of the island. Characterized by
rolling mountain planes and dramatic cliffs dropping down to the
sparkling seas, this is a really beautiful place to visit or stay.
Katastari is one of the largest villages on the island
of Zante. Located about 17 km from Zakynthos Town, sitting in the hills
above the resorts of Alykes and Alykanas. Many people pass through
Katastari on the way to the North of the island for the Blue Caves and
Shipwreck.
The village of Katastari is a really authentic Greek
homestead it has a steady population throughout the winter and caters
more to locals than tourists. There are a few places to stay in
Katastari which suit tourists who want to get away from the holiday
resort feel and stay amongst the local people in really peaceful
surroundings.
The Zakynthian seaside village of Limni Keri, situated in the south
west of Zakynthos, is a charming spot for a holiday or even just to
spend the day. A small pebble beach along the village seashore of Limni
Keri is lined with restaurants, cafes and shops.
This is a really peaceful area, with a charming beach and a lovely Greek
island atmosphere including a lovely little fishing harbour.
The resort of Laganas, around 6 kilometres from Zante Town, is without
a doubt the biggest and most commercial resort on the island. This is
the nightlife hub of Zante if you are after bars, pubs and clubs this
is the place for you!
Laganas is largely geared towards young people out for fun in the sun
and there are plenty of clubs, restaurants and beach bars to make sure
they have a great time on holiday in Zakynthos. There are a number of
shops, tavernas and fast food eateries located here as well. In the peak
of summer Laganas is packed and the atmosphere is electric. If you are
after night life and beach bars, then Laganas is the resort for you.
The resort of Porto Koukla is one of the smallest
resorts on the island with just one restaurant in the village and a
mini-market store. The Gloria Maris Hotel in Porto Koukla is really the
heart of the resort here and offers everything you would need for a
lovely Greek Island holiday.
The little beach at Porto Koukla, on the south west
coast of Zante, lies directly opposite the main beach on Turtle Island.
The view over to Turtle Island, otherwise known as Marathonisi Island,
from the Gloria Maris Hotel at Porto Koukla beach is really spectacular,
framed by the luscious palm trees.
The beach of Porto Roma is located on the far end of the Southern Coast
of Zante, close to the popular beach of Gerekas. Porto Roma beach is
small, with a mixture of sand and pebbles. This is a very quiet beach
with a taverna restaurant, but no beach clubs or bars. Its a good place
to relax during the day if you want a really tranquil spot to completely
chill out.
Porto Zorro is one of our favourite beaches on the island both
because of its natural charm and the world class facilities on offer
here at the Azurro Beach Club. Beach Clubs are a buzz in Zakynthos and
the Azurro Beach Club at Porto Zorro provides one of the classiest
places to laze you time away. If you are going to stay in Porto Zorro,
or in the surrounding area of Vasilikos you will thoroughly enjoy your
time at this classy club!
Porto Zorro is definitely worth a visit during your summer holiday in
Zante. Dont miss the turn off to the Azurro Beach Club as you drive
from Zante Town or Argassi to Vasilikos. This really is a perfect spot
for complete Greek Island relaxation.
At the most northern point of Zakynthos, a few
kilometres on from the port of St Nicholas, lies Skinari, a charming and
unique region of Zante. Here the Potamitis family will welcome you to
their homestead business, either for a day or a longer stay.
The Potamitis family own and manage the Skinari
Windmills, as well as several furnished traditional stone holiday
apartments, a charming cliff top cafe, a traditional Greek tavern, and
the Potamitis Boat trips. The family have built facilities here to
ensure that you have a truly fantastic experience in Skinari!
The resort of St Nicholas of the North is spread over a
large area - with luxury villas dotted around the jagged landscape. This
is a really up-market region, with sailing clubs and luxury
accommodation away from all of the more mass tourist locations and
perfect for a peaceful Greek Island holiday.
The beach resort of St Nicholas in the south of Zakynthos is known by a
number of names - Agios Nikolaos in Greek, or St Nicholas and St Niks in
English. This is perhaps the most popular beach on the island with
tourists and Greeks alike.
St Niks is not a typical holiday resort it is more akin to a small
village with a really relaxed holiday atmosphere. There are a few
tavernas in the heart of St Niks village as well as a mini-market and
car hire firm. There are a number of accommodation options in St Niks
a hotel, a number of apartments and stand along villas. The village is

the island. There are a number of hotels in the town, most with sea

to rent a car and head out to different beaches around the island.
The town is a charming place to stay, with a beautiful harbour,
