The beach resort of St Nicholas in the south of Zakynthos is known
by a number of names - Agios Nikolaos in Greek, or St Nicholas and St
Niks in English. This is perhaps the most popular beach on the island
with tourists and Greeks alike.

St Nicholas Beach in the South of Zante is a beautiful sandy bay
with a picturesque white Greek Orthodox Church sitting up on the cliff
overlooking the bay. You really won’t find a more charming spot than
this for a peaceful Greek Island Beach holiday.
The village resort of St Nicholas in Vasilikos is around 20
kilometres from Zante Town and thanks to the rather remote location, it
retains a real Greek charm and offers peace and tranquillity. During the
day at St Niks you have beautiful beaches, beach clubs, and water sports
on offer, and in the evening you can dine at local tavernas and sleep
early enjoying the sound of the sea!
St Niks Beach is a rather small, golden sand bay, with jagged rocks
framing the beach on each side. Like most of the Vasilikos region, the
beach here is adorned with palm umbrellas where you can shelter from the
sun during your day at the beach. These natural umbrellas really add to
the ambience at the beach.
There is plenty to do on St Nicholas Beach with activities for
everyone. There is a superb range of water sports at St. Niks
watersports hut – so you can fly through the skies on a paraglider or
take a trip around the bay on a jet ski. There is even a Scuba Diving
School at St Niks so you can try a dive around the reef at the edge of
the beach. There are also sporting facilities on the beach – with a
beach volleyball court up at Ammos Beach Club and a special area on the
beach for a fun game of rackets.
While you are at St Nicholas be sure to visit the Ammos Beach Club,
for a delicious meal or fantastic refreshments. We think Ammos offers
one of the best iced coffees in Zakynthos! With a divine ambience,
wonderful thatched roof and incredible hand carved wooden furnishings,
this is considered to be one of the top beach clubs in Europe.
If you are staying elsewhere, there is a courtesy bus which offers
free transportation from most of the main tourist resorts out to St Niks
beach in Vasilikos. So even if you don’t rent a car during your holiday
in Zante, you will be able to get out to this lovely beach for a day of
pure Greek Island bliss!
