ZANTE BEACHES - PORTO ROXA COVE
The small cove of Porto Roxa is a popular spot on the West Coast
Especially with daredevils who like to make the leap from the high
diving board into the sea below! Even if you are a bit too scared to try
the jump, it’s always fun to watch at Porto Roxa.
Porto Roxa can be reached by turning off the main road at the west
coast village of Agios Leon. You can drive between Limnionas and Porto
Roxa on a small coastal road, so you can swim and enjoy both of these
neighbouring coves.
- Porto Roxa is a really stunning cove, with a traditional Greek
fishing boat often moored to the rocks here. This is a very picturesque
spot with bright blue waters and craggy rocks.
- There is a diving board built into the rocks at Porto Roxa so you can
dive down into the sea. This is a fun, adrenaline buzz and a great way
to cool off in the really hot summer months.
The swimming at Porto Roxa is very different from the sandy beaches
of the south and east coasts of Zakynthos. Deep seas predominate on the
west coast of Zakynthos and at Porto Roxa you can be sure that your toes
won’t touch the bottom. This environment is perfect for snorkelling with
lots of sea caves to explore.
After your swim you can move up to the relaxation area at Porto Roxa
where you can take a sunbed in the shade. There are a few tavernas here
and a snack bar. Alternatively, after your swim at Porto Roxa we
recommend driving around the coast to Limnionas, a beautiful fiord where
you can have another deep water swim and a fantastic lunch at Limnionas
Taverna.
