We like to encourage tourists on holiday in Zante to get out of the
main Zante resorts for part of their Greek island holiday in Zante, to see the
beautiful hidden treasures that this gorgeous Greek Island of Zakynthos has to offer.
You will only see so much in the
main Zante resorts. The rest of Zante is here to be
explored – you won’t regret it. Taking a car is the best way to maintain
independence, go at your own speed and make sure that you visit the
beaches, and see the sites, that most interest you!
To really enjoy
the island of Zakynthos
to the full, while on holiday
in Zante I suggest you hire a car, at least for part of your stay. The
bus services around the island of Zakynthos are definitely limited,
although there are some buses available. With the relatively cheap car
rental options, it is definitely the best way to get around to the
best
beaches in Zante and see the best sites.
You can hire a car or bike, and my favourite, a bicycle, to
see the
island of Zante. All of the main resorts have really reputable car hire
firms, with very good back up services if you get into any trouble.
We personally do not think bike hire in Zante is such a good way to
travel around the island of Zakynthos - we have seen too many bike
accidents on the roads in Zante, with people coming off their
motorcycles, to recommend that you hire a bike.
In the heat of the
summer, at times the roads get very hot and more slippery than you would
be used to in the UK and the rest of Europe.
If you do hire a bike, or a quad, proceed with care. Always wear your
helmet and stick to a sensible speed, remember you are in a foreign
country and don’t know what’s around the corner!
