SKINARI TERRACES & SWIMMING FAR NORTH ZANTE ZAKYNTHOS
Cut into the cliff face at Skinari are a number of relaxation terraces
for you to enjoy. With a few sunbeds on each terrace, you can really
make the most of personal and private chill out time here. The
spectacular sea views are some of our favourite on the island of Zante
and we love heading to Skinari to escape the crowds in the busy summer
months.
The swimming at Skinari is out of this world, again one of our
favourite experiences on the island. When
you visit the Windmills, in the far north of Zante you
will see a sign promising “Down the stairs for the most amazing swim in
the world”.
Walk down the winding steps and dive in from the rocks at the bottom.
There is a great
sea cave to explore if you are brave enough – swim
around to the left of the staircase and you will see a small opening
into the cliff face.
Swimming in you can discover a huge sea cave, and you will be amazed
by the bright blue translucent water inside – for us this is the blue
caves of Zante at their very best!
Snorkelling around the Skinari area is another fantastic Greek Island
holiday experience.
If you are looking for things to do around Zakynthos, and don’t fancy
lying on the beach every day, then take your snorkel to Skinari. There
are always beautiful fish swimming around this deep sea region and you
might even spot a seal! The monk seal calls this Skinari area home and
you might be lucky enough to spot one playing around the caves.

The best time to take a boat trip to

in the morning. Before midday there are far less tourists on the famous
Shipwreck beach and the light is optimal for visiting the Blue Caves and
catching the best reflection on the water..

coast, to allow guests to swim in the crystal waters without anyone else
around.

the effort. You will enjoy personal and consistent service, and are sure

Whether you are spending the day, or the week, at Skinari, there are
two lovely places to eat while you are there.

fantastic cliff and sea views. The Potamitis family serve a range of
snacks, light lunches and refreshments here. You can also pick up a few
essentials in their little shop with towels, snorkels and other bits
available if you have left them behind.
We love the yoghurt and honey here at the Windmill Cafe – it is Greek
food at its best, with completely fresh and natural ingredients.
For a more substantial meal, head a little up the road to the Family
Taverna. Here you will find
real Zakynthian food – authentic Greek

The
White and Blue Windmill is somewhat smaller inside, sleeping a
maximum of two people. However, it has a real Greek Island feel and an
unmistakable charm. Both of the windmills are two storeys, with the
bedrooms upstairs and kitchen, living and bathroom areas downstairs.
They have fully equipped kitchenettes and air-conditioning to keep you
cool on the hot summer nights.
Each of the Skinari Windmills has a traditional little balcony off
the bedrooms where you can enjoy your morning coffee overlooking the
Ionion Sea. The views from both of these traditional Greek windmills at
Skinari must be among the best in Zante, stretching over an immense
expanse of sea, with the neighbouring island of Kephalonia floating in
the distance.
