Shop till you drop while on holiday in
Zakynthos, Zante, the Greek Islands! There are plenty of opportunities
for shopping in Zante. You will be dazzled by jewels and clothes, shoes
and handbags, pottery and arts. Make sure you leave some room in your
suitcase to take back a few special souvenirs from your holiday in the
sun.
There are wide selections of shops in all of the main resorts in Zante
– providing plenty of chances for summer holiday shopping sprees!
Many of the shops in the Zante resorts provide a selection of
clothing, gifts and souvenirs, including ceramics and handcrafts. If you
are staying in one of the main tourist resorts (Laganas, Kalamaki,
Tsilivi, Argassi, Alykes and Alykanas) you will definitely be able to
shop around your resort.
In most of the resorts you will find that the shops are open
throughout the day and often late into the evening. Plenty of time to
fill up your suitcase with holiday bargains!
For more shopping choices, a better selection of products, and more
range in prices, you will need to head out of your resort and into Zante
Town. An evening of shopping in Zante Town will definitely be an
enjoyable holiday activity. There is something for everyone in Island’s
many town – with everything from classy jewellery stores, to toy shops,
to fashion boutiques, to Italian shoe shops, to men’s clothing stores.
There are also lots of opportunities for buying souvenirs in some of the
more quaint traditional shops selling island ceramics and pottery.
With such selection, it is not surprising that Zakynthos Town is
considered one of the nicest towns in the Greek Islands for shopping.
The shops are mainly concentrated on three parallel streets – Alexander
Roma being the main highstreet, with Foscolou and Terseti on either
side. With all of the shops relatively close together it is a very
pleasant shopping experience.
The shopping hours in Zakynthos Town are traditionally Mediterranean.
Shops and business usually open during the summer months between 9am and
2pm, following which everything closes down for mid-afternoon siesta and
lunch time. Shops and services re-open around 6pm, normally closing at
around 9pm or 9.30pm. However, traditionally the shops do not re-open
between 6pm and 9pm on Wednesday or Saturday afternoon, and are closed
altogether on Sunday. Sometimes, during the peak summer months of June,
July, August and September, the shops remain open for longer hours – but
it is wise to bear in mind these opening times to avoid disappointment.
