The Zakynthian village of Bohali,
located about two kilometres from Zante Town, is a very traditional
area which retains a distinct Greek Island charm.
Bohali is not
only well known for its magnificent panoramic views over Zante Town
below, but for its traditional tavernas and cafes which are open air
in summer.
There is a great Greek taverna in the heart of Bohali where you
can be sure to hear the kandathes being played; traditional
Zakynthian music and folk songs.
The charming little village of Bohali, situated on the hill
above Zante town, is famous for its breath-taking views overlooking Zante Town
in Zakynthos. If you are visiting the Town during your
holiday in Zakynthos, make sure you come up to Bohali, you can’t help but love this
endearing Greek village.
Bochali village is located in between the
new Zante Town at the bottom
of the hill and the Venetian Castle, the old town, at the top of the
hill. If you are planning a trip to either the Town or the Castle during
your
holiday in Zakynthos, we recommend stopping off at Bochali for
refreshments or just simply to enjoy the charming ambience.
The views over the town are the most striking feature of this
traditional Greek
village. By day you will be amazed by the vibrant colours of the town
and harbour, and can sit and watch the boats rolling in and the town
bustling below. By night the town twinkles in front of your eyes and
provides a truly magical setting for an evening eating and drinking in
Bochali.
The village is great to wander around. Bougainvillea and jasmine flowers
cover the walls and old lanes – just what you expect from a
traditional Zakynthian village. The Greek Orthodox church in Bochali is another
beautiful feature of this village – pretty inside and out.
There are a
handful of cafes and restaurants in Bochali waiting to
serve you a mixture of sweets, meals, and refreshments here while you
sit and admire the view. There is even a popular nightclub located in
this sleepy village. At the top of Bochali you will come across the very
trendy ‘Movida’ club – a favourite with locals and visiting Greeks who
love the view, enjoy the cocktails and often party late into the night
here. If you are looking for a really classy night out in Zante, we
recommend heading up to Movida for a drink.
